Because I remember better by doing than reading..
Today, I learned that:
- elephants pass down knowledge from their elders. So when the older elephants are decimated by poachers, this also represents a loss of knowledge and leadership. As a result, fewer experienced elephants remain, and the young elephants have improper leadership, leading to a loss of culture within the elephant group as the generations move onward and decline in the quality of leadership and knowledge remaining. So the killing of older generations is, in my opinion, having an inordinate impact on the elephant population.
